Her
Her is an astoundingly beautiful film from visionary (often mental) writer/director Spike Jonze. Set in the not so distant future, it’s the story of Theodore, a lonely and introverted guy who falls in love with his new artificially intelligent operating system ‘Samantha’ – which sounds exactly like the dumb kinda shit i’d do.
The film is visually stunning and elegantly designed on every level. At its heart is a wonderfully subtle but very real feeling performance from Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson does a great job as the voice of the evolving Samantha. I loved the concept and the way the story evolved – it doesn’t feel like a sci-fi film, but it inherently is – and there are some genuinely moving moments as Theodore and Samantha fall in love. I won’t say any more for fear of spoiling it. Go see it.
