A Most Wanted Man

On paper A Most Wanted Man is my kind of film – an intelligent spy thriller with a quality cast. Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays a dishevelled, chain smoking, German spy monitoring the movements of an immigrant with suspected ties to terrorism. Personally I loved the film – slow, smart and beautifully shot it oozes quality from every angle.

Hoffman in particular shines in what turned out to be his final lead role. The only negative is that the film doesn’t quite manage to ramp up the tension to 11, but it’s definitely a film worth watching. If you loved Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, you’ll love this. 4/5
